The Lupo is 1.0 1999 T Reg and I wanna replace the engine with a 1.4 Polo 8v engine from a 1996 Polo .Now my question(s) is , what parts of the engine/electrics/ suspension do I need to change ? I understand the engine management will need swopping etc . Hopefully if VW's are like Fords / Rovers its just a few loom changes etc I'm not too bad with the spanners so not too over orred by the oily bitsCheer's for the help in advanced
arsenal24295
Ecu for a start i would of also thought you would need to make new engine mounts aswell
Nathan94
Any particular reason why? If you wanna go for a bit more speed, you can pick up GTI and sport engines fairly cheap now.
Skezza
Ecu for a start i would of also thought you would need to make new engine mounts aswellActually, don't hold me to it, but I think the engine mounts might be the same on the 1.4 as the 1.0, but please please do not hold me to it.Nathan, I don't think the GTi engine mounts are the same as a 1.0 so sticking a 1.6 in there would take a hell of a lot more work. DannyParanoid
^ I remember reading somewhere (maybe in the GTi conversions for dummies thread) that someone had a 1.0 loop and their GTi engine bolted straight in on the 1 litre mounts (dont quote me on it but it may have been Mitch)
Mitchell
chassis mount points yes you will need the mounts from the donor engine
