Nathan94
Took the loop to garage on Saturday and it failed on the handbrake and was then told it would be a maximum of £80 and even I specified on the phone £80 and no more. I then get a phone call later on to tell me that the car needed new rear shoes and the cost is £110, I express my anger to be told "it's only an extra £10 and then VAT on top". At no point did he mention on the phone the original £80 wasn't including VAT and the fact that I said no more is annoying.Does £110 for shoes on 1.0 not sound excessive? Rich
Yeah.Shoes are sub £20.Spring kit is £5.They're not the easiest things to fit in terms of time but that is all.
Nathan94
Is it worth disputing the fact he didn't mention VAT, the fact he still went over without VAT and that Halfrauds charge less for their brakes for life!
Rich
Just learn a lesson and walk away.
Silver!
What was his labour rate? Your car failed on brakes and you said the shoes were additional, so what else was needed, works and parts, to get a pass?I can't imagine any decent garage would do it much cheaper. Nathan94
£30 an hour they said after the work was done It failed on the handbrake and they said to rectify the problem they've put on new rear shoes only, no springs, cable or anything else. Silver!
So he's basically charged you 2.5 hours labour. did you get a breakdown on the Invoice?

Rich
It's a lot but potentially it could have been worse, I'd just forget it and move on . . . . . . . .
Nathan94
The main issue for me now is finding the other £30, I only budgeted for the £80 and I'm skint aha! The idea to get it done at the garage was because I have been working and need the car for Christmas day, which I now can't and I could I have had it done myself.
