lupo462 Posted December 21, 2013 Report Share Posted December 21, 2013 hi everyone I brought a 2002 Vw 1.0L Lupo a few few weeks back with 100.000 on the clock. only just got the car on the road but have noticed that the car refuses to go into 4th gear at times. Goes in like butter when going from 3rd to 4th but will not go in at all going from 5th to 4th. Annoying and worrying lol. In 4th gear accelerating to 5th, the car makes a grumbling squeak too.. But unsure if thats related to my blows in the exhaust.. Anyone else got the same problem? Unsure whats causing this.. Could it be the syncramesh (not sure if thats spelt right) or the case of a whole new gearbox? and does anyone know if its a costly job to have repaired? Rich Posted December 21, 2013 Report Share Posted December 21, 2013 Not going into random gears and creaking is a sign of the pedalbox going as well.You need to remove the lower dash tray, move the clutch and see if the metal bracket at the top left is flexing.
