Keelan
I want to get a tdi and put a six speed box in it but I don't know much about gearboxes. Is there one or a non OEM brand that fit the bill?

RS6plusMTM
Nope no straight fit, the AMF engine never had a 6 speed mated in any other VAG model. You need the bell housing to match, however people have manage to adapt a JDD 6-speed from a Polo blue motion http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?22012-BlueMotion-Gearbox-(JDD)-fitted-into-1-4-TDI-AMF-engine
jon_273
The JDD they are referring to is a 5 speed. No Polo BlueMotion's have a 6 speed box. They do talk about a 6 speed conversion but couldn't see any more info about it (on the first page of the thread anyway). D you have any more details? As I have discussed this with my gearbox specialist and he couldn't think of one that would fit and have suitable ratio's for a diesel. RS6plusMTM
My bad, I thought all bluemotions were 6 speed to get the economy - I should of read it further rather than just assuming
Rich
I haven't found anything and I always keep an eye on such things.Could you use a Scirocco TSI DSG box to make a DSG GTI ?

A JDD gearbox is also good but is longer throughout. The best bet is to change the 5th gear out for a longer one.
Rich
http://www.eurotuning.cz/I was eyeing up one of their 02A conversions earlier this year but considering I have a TDI fifth & a quaiffe in the box I really don't want to start pulling things apart. jon_273
That's interesting. It's pretty much how VW made the GTI 6 speed box (take a 5 speed, and fit an elongated end plate). Not cheap though is it. I think I'd rather just change the 5th gear cog... Edited November 22, 2013 by jon_273

Some people also say the polo bluemotion gearbox can fit. The code is JDD.
Nadeemaashraf
What would you change the 5th gear cog with? I'd like to do the same thing but with my 5speed lupo gti
Dblock
What would you change the 5th gear cog with? I'd like to do the same thing but with my 5speed lupo gtia slice of cheese most likely. On the tdi there is 3 or 4 options. 0.700, 0.681, 0.65, 0.625. All will lower revs in 5th gear. 0.625 will mean 70mph at 2krpm in a tdi. Would that work in a gti? I don't know.
Nadeemaashraf
Interesting! I was actually thinking of putting a TDI engine into my Gti. Was thinking 1.9 but may go for a 1.4 with a long 5th gear. Thanks for your help buddy!

Dblock
Also just looked at the website and its £890 without vat plus £50 postage so £1118 without fitting costs so my first estimate of £1500 was correct.
eurotuning
How muh torque is the kit rated for?Hello,Our set of parts stands the same torque like the gearboxes Volkswagen 02A, 02J.Volkswagen specifies the maximum torque with 250 Nm for these gearboxes ensuring long-term life time of the gearbox. We provide the same warranty for our parts like VW does.We use neither gears nor other parts from VW, our parts are special and we manufacture them at the same quality as VW does.If you tell us the gearbox code, we will create a chart for gear ratio we can offer you.Regards, EuroTuning
