Jimmie77
HiI just got myself a Lupo 01 1.4 (but with a 1.6 16v inside)Problem i have with it is that the airbag lights up on the console. And further more it shows no error code on that?!I have no idea whats been done on the car prior to my ownage. What is wrong with it?The codes i get is P0106 and P013A. Derv
If the airbag light is staying on, then there should be a code stored. Those codes you have are engine fault codes, so you need to check the airbag circuit.
Jimmie77
yes i know its Engine codes, but those are the only codes that show up.where is the ciruit i should check? how do i go about this?About the Engine codes it was suggested that the Throttle housing (if thats the correct name) is dirty. Derv
You need to use something better than the OBDII reader to access the airbag circuit, something like VCDS.Those OBDII codes are Lambda and MAP sensor related. Another thread with a related title may get you more help here.
Jimmie77
Im not sure i understand. The codes came from a reader with Bluetooth and cellphone. Since then i purchased a reader on my own with USB. And i was going to do Readings for my own in the future vith Vag-Com. Unfortunatly my Laptop runs a x64 Win7 and it doesnt seem to work on that. Anyways are you saying that it will not do with that kind of Equipment?
Derv
VCDS x64 is working fine here. OBDII is only required to do engine codes. That is why you cannot read the airbag fault.
Jimmie77
It does?! send it over =PBut do i get this right. Stuff plugged in via the OBDII cannot read this? where do you read it then from?
Derv
Generic OBDII readers are only concerned with emission related faults. You need VCDS or something that can also read the other codes.Get yourself a lead and go here >>> VCDS.
danoid
I've got U281 scanner, that checks engine faults and airbags.Suggest investing in one, very cheap and you can clear your warning then, but if it comes back something is amiss
Jimmie77
i managed to get the code. here:1 fault found:01217 - Side airbag igniter: Driver side (N199) 29-10 - Short to Ground - IntermittentWhere the hell is the side airbag?! danoid
Sounds like they've been taken out, but someone didn't disconnect the battery, or didn't use the correct air bag adapter. You could try disconecting the battery on the car for an hour, but I think it won't clear it, will need a scanner u281 will do, only a tenner
Jimmie77
Cant i clear it with VAG-COM? And i dont Think its been removed. Derv
Clear the code and see if it comes back. It may be an old fault.

Jimmie77
btw in VCDS i cant seem to read the "Engine". say bad sync rate or something. whats up with that?
danoid
Hmm, I have this sometimes and is very stressful.Guessing your using VCDS-Lite? and a ebay lead?If so, try plugging it in, then switch on ignition, then scan, if it doesn't work, scan it then remove key.If not, it could be problems with baud rates etc but google your problem and it should give you some help.
