RossB
Just had this light appear on my dashboard, flashing:I'm at work now and haven't got my Lupo manual/book so thought I'd post up and ask.The car was running as normal. I switched the engine off and restarted it and after maybe 10 seconds the light came back on as before, flashing.
manilasuperstar
overheating, check coolant reservoir,,if temperature gauge rises above normal check radiator fan is working and look for leaks.
Defcon5
It's not overheatingYour coolant level is low, just needs topping up but keep an eye on it and if it continues to drop you need to find out why its leaking
Koop
Aye temp gauge looks normal so probably just coolant pressure.
Skezza
On my old lupo, the coolant level sensor/measure had gummed up which meant when it was cold, this light came on. After it warmed it would go off. My coolant level was fine.My fix was to unplug the plug going into the coolant top up tank and arc the two pins, plug it back in and tape it. Passed an MOT like that. Karl_Mac_
Keep an eye on coolant temps, i had this shortly before my water pump packed up on my old 1.
RossB
Thanks all. Checked the coolant reservoir when I finished work and was shocked to find that I couldn't see any in there! Luckily a guy at work had some spare coolant which he donated so I've topped it up to the maximum line and will keep an eye on it. I had a full service done on it last month aswell (23/08). Defcon5
Will probably have been an air pocket somewhere that has just worked its way to the expansion tank
tintin360
you could have a leak on you radiator like mine did, I used radwell, about £3-4 from Halfords. worked first time
RossB
Coolant level has dropped slightly when I checked this morning . Maybe time for some Radweld?
Skezza
Sounds like it mate yeah. I remember someone telling me they used liquid glass (sodium silicate) to fix this (or was it a cracked head gasket, I forget). I can't remember what he did exactly, but it was something along the lines of he drained the tank completely of coolant, filled it up with pure water, then poured some sodium silicate in and drove it constantly for a few hours (quite a long time mind, it was something like 4 hours). Left it overnight, drained the water the next day and filled it up with coolant and it's been fine ever since.Liquid Glass is only about £5 a bottle so it can't hurt to try? Silver!
Is it not to show your anti submarine mode is on and working?
tintin360
with radweld, all you have to do is pure it into the coolant tank and leave the car running for 10 mins
Defcon5
Coolant level has dropped slightly when I checked this morning . James827
If the rad is leaking just replace it, I don't trust these potionsthey work though. put a hole in a plastic bottle, fill it with water and red-weld, if you squeeze the bottle it will squirt a little then stop. not permanent by any-means but a good temporary repair. check for white staining, that's coolant that's evaporated. RossB
Took the car to a garage yesterday, and they suspect the leak may be from the water pump based on some pink coloured deposits on the bottom of the sump (it wasn't leaking at the time). I am also losing gearbox oil so that's being done aswell. So it's looking like a new water pump, new cam belt, and a new seal somewhere on the gearbox.
