Hello everybody!

I've been posting my updates in the 'New Members' section but as I've done a little bit to her now, thought I'd put it up here. Nothing major will happen with the car (I don't think), but I'd like to slowly improve her and show others what can be done on a fairly tight/resonable budget. Anyway here's the story so far.....

After driving my mums car for 10 months and saving up, I've finally been able to afford my own car! Being a long time lurker within this forum looking at various topics and advice from other users, I decided to buy a Lupo! :)

I bought it in May with 62,000 miles on the clock with service history to back it up and it's only done 10,000 miles in the last 10 years! To date, I've covered about 1,500 miles including a trip to Goodwood for Players! It has great character and I love the quirky features such as the dials and pop up front seats! :P

Mods wise I plan on lowering it at some stage and probably change the wheels for something nice and subtle with a bit of dish!

So here she is when I got her......

1st thing I was to change the cambelt just in case and also put a new seal around the gearbox as it was leaking oil :( A couple of months after, I let my mum drive the car for the 1st time, which resulted in a small fire and new clutch  Safe to say she won't be driving it for a while!

After that I saved up for some G60 steels which had come off a MK2 Golf which just needed a little cleaning.

It's clear on this pic that she needs to be a bit lower!

I also made some Lego dustcaps which I'm quite proud of!

Then the exhaust middle box completly corroded so it sounded like a complete aninmal (until you saw it)! That dented the savings for the coilies, so I had to wait a bit more!

Finally got the suspension bought a couple of weeks ago courtesy of Richard at Venom Motorsport. I read the pros and cons on here for the arguements between lowering springs/coilovers and also budget coilies/mid-range coilies, and in the end decided for a set of FK AK Street coilovers.

Got booked in at a local garage for the use of the ramp and help me out a bit, until.... my alternator broke :furious: So the booking that was for the suspension was instead used for fixing the car, again. Here's the new one in..

However yesterday I finally got round to fitting the coilies (at last) and thanks to a fantasic guide on here how to fit them, it was fairly straight forward! Fronts are straight forward - take the old off and put the new ones back in the same order, but the rears were a little tricky to get to!

This is the hard-to-get-to bit!

It's just getting the tracking done and I'll get to see her after work today! Safe to say I can't wait and I'll put the pics up here!
Future plans? I'm thinking about an iduction kit (just for the noise) and possibly a rain catcher exhaust :tongueout:

I hope you like my thread :)

I gotta ask, do you get those dustcaps nicked a lot?

Found some nice red dice caps with locks but not sure whether to get them or not. Don't really fancy people tampering with my wheels.

Haha so many people have asked me that, but actually no-one has nicked them yet (fingers crossed)!!

Here's the car with the collies on at last! They're not even wound down halfway but I think it's a major improvment already! I've been told to let them settle for a couple of weeks before deciding whether to go lower... hmmm decisions :tongueout: I went for a little spin out in the peak discrit last night and I have to say it handles a lot better! Hardly any body roll now and the ride's not too bad either!

Are they 15" steels?

Trying to decide on what suspension to get for mine

Yeah, they're G60 Steels. From the reviews of budget suspension, I thought the ride would be bad, especially around where I live, but the ride is not too bad! My collies are FK AK Street if you wanted to know :)

FK AK Street is what i'm gonna run to.

If the "thumb" will come out of the ass so i will find some inspiration to get it on

nice work so far man, cars looking good.

what tyres are you running on the steels? you get any rubbing or scraping atall?

i have just got some 15 inch alloys with 195/55 tyres on and im scared of rubbing etc if i lower it even a little bit. so not gunna try and get them fitted until i know if they'll work

Thanks mate! I'm running 185/55 tyres on 15" wheels and I have no rubbing at all. I went to Creamfields over the weekend with 3 people and lots of stuff and it still wasn't rubbing so you should be fine!

looking good. as to tyres I'm guessing 50profile or maybe 45?

Thank you! :) The tyres are 185/55.

Dust caps are ace, how do you like the ride on the FKs so far T3LLIOTT if you don't mind me asking ?

Marvin

Thanks man! :) I don't mind the ride at all tbh! The roads around where I live are quite bad but I wouldn't say the FK's give a poor quality ride. Speed bumps are a little stiff but it just mean slowing down and being careful really!
