truCido
AUB is the same yes. Its a VW engine number across the range, i.e. Lupo, Fabia, Arosa etc
loupeygeorge
Turns out there is variations of the AUB engine as i got a block out of a Skoda Fabia and there is changes to the flywheel side that mean it does not bolt straight in to the Lupo's gear box. The code from my 2003 Lupo sport is AUB087310 and the code from the 2000 Skoda Fabia Comfort is AUB066255. Just thought i'd let it be known so someone can prevent making the mistake i unfortunately made
truCido
Can you explain the difference? Gearboxes should be the same as they are all 085 boxes
loupeygeorge
The flywheel on skoda is much bigger and also the starter motor has been moved to the other side. The top mounting bracket is different as well as the timing cover. The flywheel, mount and cover aren't too big of issue as its possible to bolt the ones from the lupo on. But the moving of the started means theres chunks on the bottom of one engine that are not on the other. And the lump does not mate to the box. loupeygeorge
turns out those 6 digits after the AUB are just the serial numbers. but still skoda AUB will not go in to your VW without the gearbox to match
