davidelliott294
Hi,Looking for a decent set of brakes & pads for a Lupo GTi & need some recommendations on brands and options, the current set I have have warped incredibly badly and judders unbelievably under braking. I had a look on EuroCarParts and they have Pagid, Eicher, Textar ATE & Bosch pads and Pagid, Eicher and Bosch discs. Are any of these brands any good for brakes? Cheers
Silver!
I bought Mintex OEM replacement discs and pads all round a couple of years back due to warped discs. They seem better than OEM and bite well once bedded in.VW Specialist who fitted them was happy with them.I think I got mine for £119 delivered...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POLO-LUPO-GTI-FRONT-REAR-MINTEX-BRAKE-DISC-PADS-/330350270809?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cea691959http://stores.ebay.co.uk/quality-car-parts14/MINTEX-BRAKE-DISCS-PADS-KITS-/_i.html?_nkw=lupo+gti&submit=Search&_fsub=6152468&_sid=402162456
Kam Racing
are you sure they were warped? most times when people think it is a warped disc it is just uneven transference of pad material to the disc from them getting too hot.. your best bet is to go for a pad compound that can cope with the heat better such as the mintex m1144 or ferodo DS2500 and a vented (not grooved) disc such as the Brembo's
davidelliott294
They are definitely warped, light braking you can feel the car like juddering - you can feel it when you are just driving along too and when you hit the brakes a good bit it's fecking horrible. Steering goes horrid like you are driving a car with unbalanced tyres at speed. What brand of brakes and pads does the GTI come with standard? angelo77
I have 280mm brembo max vented disks, coupled with ds2500 pads, braided lines and decent fluid, over-specked for the road really, no fade at all.Had a look at various different set ups, tarrox etc For the money if its just road use, gsf car parts stock the brembo disks and a few different oem type pads should cost £120 all in in parts.I got a little carried away and spent around £500 buts that was for front, rear and replacing all the hard pipes. Think that's the cheapest i'm gonna get a full setup for.Anyone know why they could have warped? The discs were replaced just before I got the car? No idea which brand were used. James827
Maybe they weren't bedded in right and some spirited driving was a bit too much for them
