about 300 miles a day, give or take.

just get an SDI mate, and then next year when you can afford the insurance get a TDI

I do about 100 miles a day, and when i had my 1.0 it did awful MPG on the motorway because you have to rev its head off to get to 70mph

SDI's have similar stats to the 1.0, so its a no-brainer if your doing 300 miles a day, you'll save like £15-20 per day, which you can put towards saving up for a tdi!

as for the exhaust, just leave it as it is, diesel lupos are loud as f**k anyway

hope this helped

300 miles a day - SDI will drive you made unless you are one with god, that said the 1.0 isnt going to be much better, just need to learn to take the easiest route and not the shortest.

I suggest taking a SDI and a TDI for a test drive and then you will see.

SDI will do about 55/60mpg in real life, TDI might push 65mpg if driven well.

Just after working it out there, its 75 miles up to the campus and 75 miles home. So that's 150miles, I presume I will be in walking distance to the campus. So would it matter, if I was only doing 150 miles in two days of the week. then about 2 miles the other three days in the week. would rhat be okay on the engine?

The SDI engine is bomb proof. If you're doing any kind of continuous Motorway driving, I'd steer clear of the 1.0.

Ah right and is there any comman problems related with the SDI or even the Lupo in general?

I've never had a serious problem with my SDI, the only things that have been replaced are the usual things that go with wear; exhaust, wishbones, break pads and discs, basically the normal running gear you get with any car. The only thing I would look for is when the cambelt was last changed, these are usually changed every 40k miles on average. If you get an S model, just check that the electric windows are working ok, as they're a bit fiddly, though not impossible to fix.

Other than that, not much that comes to mind. If you keep on top of servicing (oil/fuel/air filters etc) you should'nt have a problem. My SDI has sailed through it's last three MOTs without a single advisory! :D

Thats very helpful thanks! But you mention the cam belt, is this the same as the timing belt? As for maintaining it! Nothing to it, a monkey could do it. S there will be no problems there.

Cam-belt and timing belt are the same. Put a Gates Belt on and change every 60K. along with tensioners Water pump n' stuff. i think 40k is a bit excessive.

Okay, a gates belt? just try to bear with me. but how is that different to a cam/timing belt?
