Mafyou
The car grinds when I put it into the first click and the only way to get it into gear is to ram it, the whole car jolts when I do this. All the other gears seem to ok so I'm hoping it's not the clutchThanks in advance
vdublo
have a look under your clutch pedal have a feel sounds like your pedal boxgo have a read of the definitive pedal box thread you might start to notice you struggle with a few more gears in the coming weeks
Pete91
Remove the tray above the pedals and have a look up. You might be able to see if part of the pedal box is loose.

JoeA
Well Loosened it all up, put the gearbox ino first, set the lever where first needed to be and tightened it, took a few attempts to get spot on but it's perfect now
Mafyou
Alight thanks folks. I'm sure my linkages loosened a couple of years ago. I'll have a closer look in the morning
James827
i need to work on my linkages, i find lifting up the pedal a bit (if it wont go in) wil make it pop in. Also have you tried (with the clutch pedal to the floor) shifting to 2nd and then down the reverse?
charlieoliver94
mine does this, not as bad but it grinds in to reverse then wont go into first so i have to take it out of gear then into first, annoying!
Mafyou
Tried that but doesn't make a difference. Fairly certain it's the pedal box, clutch pedal is lower than brake too. Having a look now put not sure what to look out for, all seems pretty solid
Mafyou
Took it into a garage today and all they did was loosen up the clutch cable. All working now and never cost me anything so cant complain. Not sure if it will last though!
