igotbeef
for some reason the engine light has come up on the dash although the engine seems to be running fine, it's been on and off for a few weeks but now it's stuck on, has anyone else had this problem and what's the likely suspect? Defcon5
Could be lots of things, get the codes read and posted up and then we will be able to give a better diagnosis.I would imagine it will be emissions/fuel trim related

Defcon5
Clean your throttle body out, check for vacuum leaks
Wee Sprocket
Probable cause for this fault code is the throttle control unit.WS
igotbeef
is it likely i'll need to replace the throttle body?
Defcon5
Possibly, but give it a good clean first, if that doesnt work, get it recalibrated. Also check for vacuum leaks!
igotbeef
ok i took the throttle body out and it looks like the flap is open a hairline can see it when i shine a torch through it, it's def where the noise was comingfrom had a listen while it was still bolted down, is there a way to recalibrate it myself? Defcon5
Im not sure to be honest, electrics arent my thing! If you give it a good clean whilst its out, and then disconnect the battery for a while, it may sort itself out when you next turn the ignition on - you should be able to hear it opening and closing I think.
