Koop
Bump, I would also like to know this, looking at getting a sport but I like the 'box in my S & hate cars that scream on the motorway I know in theory it should be a straight swap but just wondered if there are particular engine/gearbox codes that would be difficult. Defcon5
Im fairly sure its a straight swap
jamiea7x
think it is, im sure someone on her had done it, alot more suited for motorway driving with the swap too

Defcon5
From memory, about 3500, will check next time I go to work
Amber_Nunny
I'm pretty sure that Smila on here has a gearbox from a normal 1.4 in his sport so it might be worth sending him a message
grazo22
sport gearbox code is etb and 1.4s is etd. There is only a differance in ratio from what I am aware. Mine and my friends boxes look exactly the same and are one of each.
My_Names_Buck
Yes a 1.4s box will 100% fit a sport engine. I had this done in mine when my car was still a standard. I blew my sport box up and managed to source a 1.4s box, and yes made motorway driving nicer didn't really hinder performance as far as I could tell either.Sam. jamiea7x
the sport revs a little over 3500 at 70, i always find my revs in fith are a little over half the speed im doing, 60=3000-3100, 70=35-3600 or there thereabouts
Rowan S Jones
my gearbox has just gone, looks like I'll be doing this! glad I found this thread!
si_leeds
we had one fitted to ours when it went and the guy had to make some kind of mounting bracket for it and swap the linkage over i think
