Bickerton
Timing set properly? Not bent a valve?
mynameisjon21
Checked the timing a couple of times and pretty sure it's right, the chamfered tooth on the crankshaft with the right hand notch and 2 drill bits in the camshaft tensioners set, if a valve was bent would it affect all 4 cylinders? Cheers
Defcon5
No. Timing being out would though

Defcon5
When you say you found it, can you be a bit more specific? - Oil filler cap/dipstick/sump full etc
mynameisjon21
It was in the oil filler cap, nothin in the dipstick and coolant seems fineCheers mate
Defcon5
Its normal, dont worry - just due to the cold weather

mynameisjon21
Phew nice one :-)Yeah I put a compression check and got 0 on all of them, it didn't even move.I lined the chamfered cog up on the crankshaft with the right hand side notch on the engine case,And I put 8mm drill bits into each of the holes on the cam shafts, it was a bit fiddly but they seemed to line up just nice? And I set the tensioners as the diagram How do you post pics and I'll put one up to see if I have done it right?Cheers again

mynameisjon21
Tonight i took the belt off and redone it from scratch, put the compression tester on and got 130 on the first cylinder, tried the next cylinder got 0, so tried the first one again and got 0??? Really confused?? Any ideas? Woodruff key maybe? Cheers
Defcon5
Got to be honest, it was working before you did the belt, and it doesnt work afterwards. Id get a second opinion on wether the timing is set up properly
mynameisjon21
Cheers for the help mate, I've bent all the inlet valves :-( I think I've tightened the main tensioner anti clockwise instead of clockwise so when I started it, the timing has gone out :-( anyway I'm back on the road now :-) Cheers again Sands
