Rich
Nothing, why? You've got an SDI for MPG, not speed. If you want more speed sell up.In fact you're local, buy my Polo and benefit from speed that way.

James827
you could get a 1.9 tdi and swap bits over to make a 1.7 tdi. dont know how well it would work and how reliable it would be but its based of that block.
scotty_82
LOL if you were going to do that you might as well put the whole 1.9 in.

James827
Buy slowest Lupo on the market, want to make it faster.Yer, that makes sense.isnt the 1.0 slower?1.0 = 50hp-86nm 0-60 = 17.7 top speed 95mph.1.7 = 60bhp- 115nm 0-60 = 16.8 top speed 98mphA small margin id admit. James827
In the real world though......yeah but you'd be surprised. i chose my 1.7 over a 1.0. much better on motorways and never struggled on a hill.one of my friends had a 1.0 and we were gonna put them next to each other and see how much difference there was. Unfortunalty he sold his 2 weeks before i picked mine up.But what i find is people always complain about how sdi's are useless and stuff and probably have never driven one! JoeA
i shall await someone who knows and has driven both but i imagine the 1.0 is faster 0-40.

Rich
If you're asking that you're never going to do anything with it so just go have a cup of tea.
James827
There is no 1.7tdi its an sdi. it is a 3 cylinder engine. the 1.9tdi (from the golf etc) is a 4 cylinder engine. 4-3=1 hence 1 cylinder short meaning the suggestion made of utilising 1.9tdi parts would be impractical as parts such as the inlet manifold etc are for 4 a 4 cylinder engine.you have lost me. the 1.7 SDI is 4 cylinder. The 1.4 TDI is 3 cylinder. the difference from the 1.7SDI engine block and the 1.9 tdi is a shortened piston stroke. 1.9 TDI parts should theoretically fit onto the 1.7 SDI block. infact there heads are probably the same.
