kfinlay
Hi All,Just got a wee Lupo 1.0E and think it;s a great wee motor -way better than the wife's Aygo (although slower!)The passenger door sags so it makes closing it a bit noisy and more difficult. Is there a way to re-align the door?I notice there are two main hinges but can't see any adjustment. The door strap is also not attached so I plan on getting this done while fixing the door alignment. Can you help a newbie folks?TIAKev
STU?
hindes are most likely buggered happenes on all lupos as the doors are like 90% of the car
Bickerton
Lupoboz on here should be able sort you some out for a decent price.I think there is a little bit of adjustment on the hinge under some rubber caps but this rarely works it seems. georgen
Ive just changed all my hinges, not a nice job, bottoms ok to change but I bet your top one is the most goosed, easiest way is to take strap off, remove door, you will need two torx bits one long and one short, you can use a 10mm spanner ring end on the end of the torx bits as you dont have space for ratchet. once doors off, you will see two bolts for each hinge, for the top hinges only>one bolt you can see the torx head the other you can see the threaded end, ( one from outside of car the other from inside). the one from inside so thread end, center pop it and get a good drill bit and drill straight through this one, once this is done take the other one out with torx, now hinge is off push a thin blunt instrument through hole that you have drilled bolt from to push rubber bung out as these are sealed in, well mine was. just order new bolts with your hinges to replace drilled ones, you still have to loosen dash and remove bottom part and on drivers side loosen and move fuse box, its a pain but a lot easier if you drill the bolts out as ive said, goodluck and hope this helps.Regards George Edited September 16, 2011 by georgen
kfinlay
Thanks for the quick replies guys, looks like I've got a bit of a job on my hands!Do I just get the parts from VW or someone like Lupoboz? kfinlay
Been out and had another look at the hinges. They have 1 bolt into the car body and 1 bolt into the door body - both are Torx bolts. It looks like I could get into the door bolts first to remove the door then get into the car body ones to remove the hinge. Is this right and anyone know what size of Torx is required? It also seems that the latch for the lock is a touch high as the alignment along the bottom of the window with the rear quarter is out a bit.Still think the hinges need replaced though.Kev
kfinlay
found the 2 bolts into the body - one from inside and one from outside - looks like I'e got a sh!tty job to do. Will do the door strap at the same time.
