yea so the 18" is in :D

Why on earth would you want an 18" sub in a car as small as the Lupo?

It doesn't only look stupid, but it won't actually do anything that a 12" sub wouldnt because, as you said, "it will never be turned up to that extent".

Pointless in my opinion.

as i said in another thread, i picked everything up for free, myself and a few mates wanted to do this for a laugh. get a few photos etc. i also said it wouldn't be staying too long, im not one for driving around my music up loud.

I don't understand the requirement for large sounds in a car, but I do understand free, so good on ya' for being annoying and it not costing anything

Looks a bit boxy. Are you going to shape it to suit the space a bit more?

at least someone understands having a bit of fun. I didn't really want to build it in more as i wanted it to be set in and out. I suppose the corners could be rounded but its at a friends at the minute. Hes putting a top and bottom on it. think i will put the felt on it on thursday. i will upload pics when its done. mabie it will look less boxy.

If you like it, keep it.

Ignore the haters.

You have to have big sounds in a car to understand why having big sounds in a car is so much fun. I miss my subs dearly and will be making a new install in the next few months as I enjoy driving so much more with the extra bass.

Enjoying music does not make you a pikey, chav, or a 'gay'.

Yeah, you are getting close the size of a proper kick drum skin there, bring the rock \m/

There is something nice about feeling the punch of the bass when you are at a gig, but it needs to be in proportion. I hear a lot of folk running about where the bass is about 10x the volume of the mids and tweets. My favourite was one time up the retail park and this guy has the Grease Megamix maxed out with his sub clipping.

What would it be like with electronic music? Chuck some Plastician at it and would it keep up?

i think you need to design and build a proper box for it bare minimum would be 6cuft after all displacements and tuned 30-35hz i could easily make a 12" sub go louder than the 18" becouse your losing all the output due to the box spec

Thats gonna sound awfull im afraid mate.

The box is is about 10x too small and all those little ports are gonna do is is fart!

What power are you putting up this by the way? If you start running silly power into it, it really wont last long with that poorly designed box.

As said above, my 10" soundstream would be much louder, cleaner, punchier and drop deeper than this, purely cus it's in a well made ported enclosure.
