caryleighton
Looks awesome! How do you go about doing that? Manual adjustment of the shutter speed?
BEP51
Looks awesome! How do you go about doing that? Manual adjustment of the shutter speed? Thanks, quite complicated to get all the settings just so on the camera, basically, 30second shutter speed is more than enough to take your time making the light trails etc. but then its just a case of getting the aperture level correct so u can use ISO100 (or the lowest you have) so that the image is not overexposed and stays really sharp with no grainy areas. u have to fiddle and test the aperutures to get it right. depends how much light their is. but then keep all settings the same and just light different areas, hide the bulb up your sleeve or behind something if u dont want the lines, but they will still reflect in the paintwork. So take a large selection of variants and photoshop the bits you want together. i did make myself a light tube by sticking a 22mm bit of white plumbing pipe on the end of the torch so it lit up, but i didnt use that on this particular photo. it is less harsh and makes nice wave when u use a light tube.Edit: my light tube Edited February 1, 2012 by BEP51

BEP51
Scott Johns doesnt have a members ride page yet, so his pics have to go here!Went up on the moors this evening - very very cold, even a little snow, and took these pics: Edited February 1, 2012 by BEP51
BEP51
Lightpainted the R32 this evening, had to clean it in freezing temperatures and even the warm water was freezing on contact! But i persisted and got these:Wish i had lit further either side of this last one, but i moved the tripod accidentally before i had time to do so. But the final result is still pretty smart.I tried to avoid the torch waving and be considerate about where i lit, and i think im improving!Opinions welcome! Lupo-Joe
Dude that works so nicely on your dads car! I Like the way you didn't wave the torch around, gives it a mean and moody look! Keep it up!Joe
BEP51
Ages since an update!I decided to have a go at this lowering lark, went down to a height on the fronts where the tyre was just inside the arch just as a tester, turned one corner and decided to wind it straight back up to normal, the tyres caught on the plastic inside the arches at even normal cornering speeds, which is strange as Scott Johns did the same with his on balloon tyres with no such issues :s maybe the sport front track width is slightly wider? Then i felt brave again and had another go, halfway between original and arch-tyre. same thing happenned again even under light cornering. And i'm sorry but a car u cannot drive round a corner is frustrating and S**T and thats the whole point of my car, its a "trackday car for everday driving" and not a photographer's dream. Nethertheless photos to follow. But I persisted in moving it up bit by bit till it stopped the scrubbing (when cornering pulls the tyre over just enough to avoid the arch and that was about 5mm lower than where it started. So thats my new ride height! It does look a little better and it stops it sitting slightly to rear-rake when there are two people sat in the front which is very prefferable.Latest set of pics:Love the way it looks atm, so this is how its staying bar some summer paintwork tasks.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------On another note, won a top 10 watercooled trophy with the .:R32 at VW Action in Truro. 60-70 other cars in the watercooled category, so pretty pleased as its the first show and shine ive ever entered! BEP51
Little trip to Devon Dub Shack and with no intention of buying anything at all... ended up buying a mint set of pop-out rears for £40 with seals and rear trims, also managed to swap my rear view mirror for a black one! - looking at how to fit the popouts - fitment is easy - but removing my current glass looks like a pig of a job - will have a go sometime this week! Also currently refurbishing another set of kyalami sport wheels in anthracite grey, and they are coming along nicely! BEP51
Fitted my pop-outs today, pig of a job! took about 5 hours, drivers window shatterred all over me and tthe road and car interior. but all finished now!Just want to run a line of black paint around the inside of the window beside the seal to tidy things up a bit when its opened. Also polished out some holograms left by the last time i machine polished it.Results:Debating an LCR front splitter, but not sure how it will look on a red car...Thoughts welcome!Ben

Newnesie
Looking good Ben, we will have to meet up over summer for some cleaning and some pics!!!Do not do a LCR splitter, I don't think it would suit it, and I am not really a fan of splitters haha
BEP51
nice car dude, cleaner than factory finish Thanks! - Im always trying to make it how the factory should have made it in the first place!Looking good Ben, we will have to meet up over summer for some cleaning and some pics!!!Do not do a LCR splitter, I don't think it would suit it, and I am not really a fan of splitters hahaGood to hear from you mate, will be back in Taunton in a few weeks. Ive had second thoughts about the lcr splitter, but trying to get hold of one from a polo 6n to test fit that... I think it needs something, but something curvy and not sharb like the lcr splitter. BEP51
The 6n one's a bit bulky & square looking for me. Lovely loop btw the one i'm looking at is quite slim:going to see first if my mate still has it as he got himself a 6n2 gti one recently. dont know if it can be made to fit, but may as well blutac it on and step back to have a little look. Those photos with the torch were sick! really like that you're keeping your car only slightly modded, looks so smart! i'm up on the moors quite a lot, might see you up there! Thanks! I just look at photos from Ultimate dubs this year, and I just cannot understand the obsession with lowering suspension if its not to make it handle better? For example:Amazing and rare car ruined by tiny wheels and air-ride with the sole intention of making a "performance car" perform worse? This 32 could look absolutely stunning if it was just 40-50mm higher, but no - it just looks **** another "performace car" runied.I appreciate how fun low cars are, but I cant understand the desire to do this to a nice car that you buy for the engine...Where abouts do you live then? Myself and Scott Johns are down in Plymouth - popped onto the moors last night for quick pics and a drive.
