The cheapest gti ive seen is the one on here for 2.2k which is very cheap.surely an AVY conversion isnt that.even at a specialist i was quoted 1200 supply and fit.how would it be cheaper?i have taken into account insurance and this would still be cheaper

engine gearbox drive shafts brakes wiring loop unless you want to run dta or a other running system not sure if anything needs to be done to the subframe to make it fit ?

for a conversion you should only need

engine

gearbox

loom

also later polo engines are fly by wire, so you may need to convert to that depending on your car

as for gearboxes, from the factory they were not great, although a lot of people havent had a problem

and once rebuilt once (properly) they should be fine

keep an eye out on club polo, seen some conversions up on there for around £300-£400

Best thing to do when going about 6n2 gti conversion IMO... is buy a crashed damaged Polo gti, take everything you need and sell the rest for parts... You'll make your money back for the engine and associated parts and maybe even make a little profit. You can pick up crashed damaged polo's for next to nothing...

Also with your car being a 1.0l it means you can take the hubs off the polo and put them with bigger breaks on the lupo, no point running a gti engine with 1.0l stopping power. You can go about the loom in two ways... I've heard you can run the Lupo interior loom along side the polo gti engine loom, dubsy knows info on this, if your serious contact him... Or speak to gilly from VeeDubs on billquay, he'll point you in the right direction.... For my conversion i ran the full Polo interior loom through the car, and spliced it where needed, Mitch did the same and iirc gave me information on what bits needed changed.. If your serious, drop him a pm.

You'll need Engine, box, engine loom, interior loom ( if you run it through the car ), ECU, Clocks, Keys, Immobiliser and transponder can't remember what else =/... iirc you need to change the connections for the headlights, and rear lights, extend a wire for one of the indicators, i had to splice the lupo interior loom and rewire the door electrics into the polo loom... i can't remember what else.. pm me when you decide what ur doing and need help.

Cheers Bailey thats good to know.In all honesty i cant be bothered breaking the rest of the polo and i dont have a drive or garage etc.but when u consider i could buy the whole car for about the same price as the engine it figures to get tho whole thing.thats what i was thinking about the brakes aswell.I think ill pm Mitch but ill wait till i have sourced what i need, and ive already emailed the guys at veedubs so might hear back today. So it sounds like quite s bit of customising the loom is needed is that right?im guessing thats the hardest part?I am serious about it guys so give me a heads up if u see a polo gti cheap.thanks, Dan
