Henaz
Ive done mine, paid no more than £15 for the switch. Really easy to change. It sits ontop of the brake pedal, twist it anti-clockwise and it will come out, plug the new one in, twist it clockwise to lock it back on the pedal
MrJow
yeah paid £13 for the part. VW wanted £60 to fit it!Thanks for the quick reply mate. sounds easy enough. is it obvious where it is at top of the pedal?
Henaz
Would just do it yourself mate, it will take 2 minutes. Aye fairly obvious, if you trace your hand up the front of the pedal, you will feel the switch, or have a look using a torch and you'll see it straight awayalso when you get the switch, push it all the way in, fit it, then pull it back out until it just touches the pedal Edited December 13, 2010 by Henaz

Make sure the plunger is pulled out on the switch before fitting.

xkarinx
I've changed the one on my Polo, it's a pretty easy job. This guide might be handy, it's for changing it on a Golf but the concepts pretty much the same. Hope that helps

cam_d
I have the same issue, although my problem is that the lights are staying on, i'm having to lift the pedal to turn the brake lights off... is it the switch?
cam_d
I worked it out and it was the switch, at first i was panicking thinking it was the pedal box! Mine wasn't as easy as everyone else says, it took a few go's as it is very tricky to get it lined up straight, and a pair of pliers to click it into placed helped a lot. for updating this threads sake, that guide above helped and i paid £16 for my switch
