3rd brake light

Hi,

Fitted a new brake light in the spoiler about 2weeks ago, tested it and it was working fine but now for some reason it keeps blowing the fuses, everytime I put a new fuse in and press the brake pedal the fuse pops, I'm using a 10amp fuse.

Now I know that you have to mod the brake light because you can't buy the original one anymore, as anyone else had this problem?

Cheers

Replaced my spoiler brake light a couple of weeks ago too.

Mine just plugged in and then slotted straight into my spoiler without any modification........I also added silicone as the brake light was slotted in to seal it from the elements properly and also the spoiler to the body work for peace of mind.

Been working fine ever since.

Have you checked the connector plug to make sure the pins are not touching or the cable is not pinched as you put the spoiler back on, as it took me a couple of attempts to get the cable out the way as it was quite long on mine

Mod the brake light? In what way? And its still very available from VW as they are showing 10 in stock of 6e0 945 097 B.

Sounds like you may have a wire trapped somewhere thats earthing it out to the body, so I'd start by removing the brake light and checking there first.
