have searched the forum but havent found a guide on how to remove the headlining?

does it just pull off?

flip open the little covers on the grab handles and unscrew all 4 handles.

take the little sunvizer cover off(i dont knw a way with out breaking it but they are £2 from vw)

and un screw fixing on vizer, remove vizer, you have to push in slightly then up then it should come out.

take the cover of the interior lightand remove the casing

I think there is a sensor for the alarm passenger side aswell

Now working from the back of the car star pulling the healing away from the car at the edges(should kinda pull away)

now working up the sides (a lot easier with two people) keep pulling it down. once you get to 1 to 2 ft away from the front you need to start pulling it backwards towards the boot,

Should come out that way

be carefull as it can bend and mark fairly easy.

I can answer my own question, these clips or the covers of these clips conceal two screws that locate into the roof, a thin wide flathead screwdriver leavers them off without breaking them, but breaking them doesn't matter that much as the clip is steel and can still be used without the plastic cover

Anyone with a sunroof model, as OP says but ignore the last part about sliding backwards and forwards... the headlining is recessed into the sunroof opening so won't slide.

Instead, once you've removed all the bits and pieces gently prise up the trim that runs round the edge of the sunroof opening (from above with sunroof fully open). Then at the rear you do need to push the back edge of the headlining forward a bit to get the clip(s) to disengage (mine only had one clip but maybe cos a previous owner broke one) and you can feel where they are by sticking a suitably thin prodding implement in.

From here on there are no clips - not even push-fit ones - you just need to gently leaver it down by working your way round the edge with something like a wallpaper scraper. Mine was a bit stuck along the front edge but this was just where it had got stuck on some windscreen glue... there were definitely no clips at the front, the only thing holding it up were the visors fixings, etc.
