When starting my Lupo GTI, the car starts fine but after about a second or two of it starting makes a screeching/whining noise for a couple of seconds. Spoke to a mechanic friend of mine and he said it sounds like the starter motor is sticking on slightly after the car has started, apparently its a common fault.Anyone had the same thing happen??Cheers Ewan Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Derv Posted March 7, 2010 Report Share Posted March 7, 2010 I fixed mine yesterday. The noise was horrible.There are various guides around to Bosch starter motor cleaning. Here's one.The two bolts holding the starter to the bell housing are very tight. I had to use two spanners linked together to get enough force to undo them. The rest was fairly straight forward.
