smerko
hi my first post! thinking of an arosa for my first car (cheaper than lupo). can you guys tell me what models all have the 16v version of the 1.4l unit in them. is it just the mk2 sport model that has it or do some of the older mk1 models have it installed also? any hints/tips welcome! i would go for the 1.0 but its a bit slow!also is the 8v(is that the mpi?) 1.4 unit any good? what is the tuning potential for this engine (is 100hp realistic without stupid amounts of cash?). any figures/dynos to show me? i may consider this over a 16v if its an ok engine as i can get them fairly cheap.p.s. nice forum btw style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
DanGTI
for the money youd spend getting a 1.4 as near as possible to a 16v sport u might as well just put the extra cash towards the sport in the first placejust seen your post on seat enthusiasts, want to buy my 16v? smerko
i dont really have the cash right now for a 16v hense the 8v option but thanks for the opinion. i think i will go this route now unless i can get some extra cash together for the purchase. what modifications can i do to the 8v to make it faster (forget the 100hp figure - sounds like too much cash to get this...)? i was thinking exhaust, induction kit etc? what would this sort of mods get me hp wise? many thanks
DanGTI
im not the best person to ask about the 75hp one but maybe with a good induction kit and exhaust about 85 bhp or so? im sure anyone here would tell u to ignore the ridiculous power gains tuning companies always put on their products. if its your first car itll be fun to drive and enough power for blasting around in. my girlfriends 1.0 (50bhp) is slow but still enjoyable. zippy
How about a 1.4 TDI arosa?Would be my choice mate!Oh, Welcome!!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
smerko
i'll be honest and say that i came to the idea of the arosa through the 1.4tdi due to its tuning potential 8) and the arosa being the cheapest vag car that has that engine! revo = 110hp and a nice amount of torque (sighs). shame the 1.4tdi is even more expensive than the 1.4 16v :? .... however i am starting to like the idea as an arosa as a first car anyway as its cheaper than a lupo and i liked the look of the jabbasport lupo cup car. i really wish i could get a cheap 1.4tdi though style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
zippy
1.4TDi should be similairly priced to the 100bhp 1.4 16v...
