cardaft
Does it run better now its been to Garys, Phil? Private plates are more trouble than they are worth, i still am waiting for my Arosas reg to come back, seems to be taking ages, they rip you off when you have to swap it or retain it. Adam K
i would love a go in a vx220 n/a (i know the turbo would trounce me until mine is supercharged) just to see what they go like compared to my s2k. love the way they look, but just wonder if i could live with the lack of creature comforts as i have been known to do 400+ miles a day in my honda. Philplop
If you're doubting it now, I don't think you could hack it. I thought I'd be fine in one and I'm already finding it a bit too much sometimes...Cardaft, it's still running a bit dodgy, a sensor needs replacing and Gary couldn't get at it. Gonna phone a specialist tomorrow. If it's a clam off job I might take it off myself and either fit it myself, take it back down to Gary's naked (the car, not me), or take it to the specialist in Wetherby. It doesn't feel that fast compared to my Lupo, so I'd imagine it wouldn't be worth it from an S2k if you were wanting something faster. Philplop
Right, been a bit busy recently.Got a pair of rear wheels to run up front. Refurbed the lot in satin black. Running 195/45/17 and 225/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1's. Lowered the coilies a bit, think I might have got a bit carried away. It's down as far as possible on the front, can't go right down on the threads as the spring platform fouls the bracket. Haven't touched the rears. Low on the VX forum is 100mm or 110mm ground clearance. One guy said he's 90mm. Not sure where they measure from, but the lowest part of my bumper is 57mm. May have to raise it...Repainted the brakes as they were gash. Before and after pictures below.Fitted a new headunit, nice Alpine, hell of a lot better than the Ripspeed 3" DVD player that was in.Given the interior a bit of a makeover but haven't finished yet. Fitted carpets and painted all the plastics and tread plates black. Much nicer place to be now. Removed the headrests from the rollbar. They were a **** fit, creaked like a bugger, looked rubbish and restricted rear view. The Elise doesn't have them so I don't need them. Pulled off the covers and ground off the metal frame. Need to fill in the cutouts with fibreglass but I'll do that later. Oooh, and I fitted a rear view mirror that doesn't block out half of my view out of the windscreen. Tiny sticky on one from Halfords. The coolant tank cracked as they're not UV resistant and after 8 years in the sun it gave up. Fitted a new one along with a carbon cover to prevent it happening again. And after all that I still can't drive it properly as the engine management light is still on and it's misfiring like a bitch. Waiting on two lambda sensors and a fuel filter, then have to try and get it booked in early next week to get them fitted and a full geo done.Headrests removed:Carpet and black treadplates. Will get more pics when the rest is finished.Brakes before:Brake after:Original reg, 3/4 size plate, black V and badge:And the moment I've been waiting for: Edited April 19, 2009 by Philplop

MattyA
Yeah the forward rake really suits it, and the black wheels look great against the yellow paint work. You bringing it to Scotland?

Philplop
Originally I just wound it all the way down to see what it looked like and so I could clean the threads up. Had to take the coilies off to adjust them but it wa a piece of piss, one bolt at the top, one at the bottom. It handles **** to be honest, steering is really vague. It's not a car you can just lower and drive though, it needs setting up properly. It was way out to start with because when I took one of the front tyres off it was down to the canvas on the inside edge! Will most likely raise it though, just wish I had more time to fart about with the height before the geo. Hopefully it'll make Scotland Matt, providing I can get it booked in for the geo and the lambda sensor fitting in time. Can't be arsed with that Al, plain red will do me fine. Cheers for the comments though everyone.
Philplop
It handles **** to be honestI take that back. When I lowered it more I also backed the shocks off to be softer, 15 on the front and 20 on the back. Wound it up to 30 on the front and it handles just the same as it did before I decked it. Still not great, cos it wasn't amazing when I got it, but I think with a set-up it could still handle well while it's on the floor.Still gonna raise it a bit though, can't be arsed with this scraping, a front clam is a bit more expensive than a Lupo bumper! And it's not just a case of raising it a bit if I get fed up of it being so low, would need setting up again, and that's expensive! Gonna find a happy medium.
