Lowering and wheels on an SDi Lupo

Have any other Sdi owners out there lowered their cars?

I am thinking of just fitting some Eibach’s for now, but having a checked a couple of websites I can’t work out whether or not they are suitable. Some say you can’t fit to an SDi and others say you can. The only thing I can think of is weight, i.e. the SDi engine is heavy and therefore the springs will compress too much, but as far as I know the SDi uses the same stock springs as the rest of the lupos?

Tempted to just stick them on the see what happens, but would rather seek some advice first from someone who has gone down this route.

Also, wheels. If I am fitting 15” wheels what width should I be looking at and what size tyres? Will 15x6 with 195/45’s be OK?

Cheers,

Neil

The Diesel engined Lupo's use slightly stiffer springs than on the Petrol models due to engine weight.

Your right about the lowering springs, only springs that specifically state they are suitable for the SDi / TDi are worth considering. I found this out when I used lowering springs for the 1.0 / 1.4 petrol on my SDi. They dropped a further 20mm past what they should have settled at. Didn't bother with changing anything on the TDi after that.

Go for 195/45/15 tyres. Toyo Proxes T1S's would be a good choice. I think a 195 is a 7" wide wheel.

Cool, just the answer i was looking for, I don't mind it 20mm lower but I bet that would knacker the shocks and make the ride crap. I just want to tighten things up for the minute.

As for the wheels I think 6 or 7" wheel would be fine with a 195/45, probably not if the front was too low though.

Check out Eibach’s site and c what they list for it. That would be correct then smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />.

The rims + tyres should be fine with that ammount of lowering. smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
