johnyardley
Hi,Has anyone got experience of Allards in Gloucester/ Monmouth who offer a large replacement intercooler and remap to produce 140bhp and 280 lb/ft torque?Does anyone know the max torque this transmission/ gearbox/ clutch this car can manage?I would appreciate any advice.Great forum !!CheersJohn
DJ
No, but very interested in that style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="twisted.gif" /> I have heard that the standard remap of a TDi of 105bhp and 198lbs/ ft can knacker the clutch fairly quickly so I would imagine that that much power would surely shred it. Tigz™
isnt the TDi box the same box that was in the 5 speed GTi?
DJ
The GTi didn't have anywhere near 280 lb/ft torque though did it?

16vpolo
that LE MANS car is mad.... it was featured in racecar engineering mag.. can make 1000nm of torque.. and 800 bhp.. they set it up for way less so it didnt kill the gearbox... Neiler
Id say the turbo would go with those firgures mentioned. And 2bh i think those figures are BS, there is noway they would get 140 brake with a remap and an intercooler. And yes i think even with the map ud get some slippage. Altern8
has anyone fitted a bigger i/c on a tdi yet what difference did it make ?
Crusoe
bigger intercooler will give you more air cooling which should make it feel much perkier liek your driving it on a cold morning compared to a warmer day, depending on size and fuling map it can be worth `10-20bhp` just by increasing the size, there's a monster intercooler on mine about 2 square feet in area, around 700 notes though if you hole it apparently.
