Just out of curiosity whats the idle speed on the sport?

I'm a owner of a 1.4, just wanna do some investigating.

Had a theory that the sport had a lighter flywheel, but found out from VW that 1.4 and sport has same part, so there must be summat else that makes sport easier to rev. I'm thinking about the crank shaft.

Only obvious difference i've found is the inlet manifold, VW was kind enough to give me the assembly diagram of the sport and 1.4. 1.4 has a much longer inlet. Bigger valves on the sport? I've noticed that the sport has a different engine code, AUB. So it must have a different engine.

Which engine did they make first? 1.4(AHW) and then tuned that to sport(AUB) or the other way round? There must be summat thats significantly different about that engine? Anyone got one of those VW assembly CDROMS with all the diagrams. if so, email me biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I don't wanna mod my car, as it would cost way too much to get any significant improvement. just wanna see what VW have done.

The idle speed is 820 rpm on my sport VAG com measures revs so i know this for sure.

you've answered you're own questions on the other points, manifold and I 'think' cams are different this may explain the huge difference in low down torque between the 1.4 and 1.4s engines but dont quote me.

I dont think anyone knows for sure mate, that is probably why no one has answered your post.

I really dont come into here because I know **** all about this stuff.

I always get it wrong, so Im hoping someone comes in here to modderate me, and hopfully correct me.

Now Im pretty sure people have talked it being down to the Cams. And I think the ECU may have been mentioned also.

Sorry I could be more of a help.
