Torquemadder
Dealer option on 2002 model (unfortunately) It was standard fitment from 2003 on I think.I found out that mine didnt have abs when I tested my new 280mm Brembo discs at 50mph by standing on the stop pedal lol.Left 2 perfect black lines on the tarmac for 5 metres
cardaft
Yup thats right.Easiest way to find out if one has it, is the ABS light shoulw glow when the first turn on the ignition. Not many have it, but then, there arnt many Arosa TDis about!

cardaft
Ah, ABS is for wimps I often get ABS coming on with my norma-hard branking, but never lock the wheels on my arosa, so not sure if it kicks in too early on some cars The only time i ever think about it, is in the snow, which never happens anyway
JamesTdi
I was looking into this today on mine, I noticed it had the abs fuse but lets just say...It does not have ABS....
si_leeds
my 2000 sport has it and its way too sensitive, the minute i even tickle the breaks whilst going over a manhole or something the ABS kicks in and throws a wobbler, is there anyway of turning the sensitivity down by any chance? Emz
My 2003 Sport has it also, useful for when idiots pull out infront of you without looking! ggrr lol

Marshey
ABS on my sports really sensitive aswel. if i try braking on a bumpy country road it goes mad and dont really slow me down as much as i liked.
si_leeds
Not really, but how often do you have to brake over a manhole cover? in leeds our roads are **** mate, manholes all over the place, and their all raised, and as marshey said the slightest bump sets it off, like the bump from a raised manhole. Nadeemaashraf
I've got a 2001 1.4 tdi, can you fit abs to it? Just wondering if it is a easy fit. Would love air con but I herd it would be a bloody hard job!
Defcon5
I doubt its an easy fit at all, there are quite a few parts it needs - not sure if it has its own ECU or uses the main one.
Nadeemaashraf
If the parts are cheap it would be cool to have, any other mods I could do?
Defcon5
It wont be cheap at all. Just buy better tyres

Rich
I was debating retrofitting it.It runs on its own loom which would have to be seperated from a main loom for a car, pump plumbed in and sensors fitted.Considered it for about five minutes, then I retrofitted heated seats using a factory kit and forgot about the ABS.
