Boy'dup
if you do buy one, any imperfection or chip in the paint is going to be a likely rust spot (same with any type of car) so they need to be touched up, i'd also recommend get the underside of the car protected with waxoyl or similar do they have stainless exhausts? C7RKY
I’m very late to this discussion, but hope it helps. I’ve just inherited my dad’s 1999 1.4 automatic Arosa in bright orange with under 30k on the clock. He didn’t choose that colour, but he was adamant about wanting that particular model because he was aware it was only galvanised when manufactured in Spain - as opposed to Germany. (Orange was his only remaining choice). If the manufacturing location is any indication, then the switch to Spain happened in June 1998 according to Wikipedia. Cars made after that date may therefore be the galvanised ones if that theory holds up? I can tell you my dad’s car has been off the road for over a decade, but despite that extended spell of neglect and being 26 years old, the bodywork still looks near perfect.
