alex
Drove up to harrogate at the weekend for a 21st partyDrove five minutes on the way back before car would just not go into gear.Pulled over and got RAC out. They thought it was a leak in the hydraulics for the clutch, tried to fix it ( blead air out and top up) , but no luck.So its currently sitting in Harrogate VW waiting to be fixed. And I'm 250 miles away!No wonder we all drive cars - York to london single rail fare - 71.50! unbelievable.Did remember slight provblems with gears the previous night, but thought nothing of it.RAC man said this problem only usually occurs in cars in cars that have done at least 90,000? Loopy Lupo
crap alex, first joe then you with gearbox/clutch gremlins - hope it gets sorted soon (and vw better not piss you around with the warratny either grrr) i hope we're not seeing the beginnings of an ugly pattern here.......... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
Putney
i hope not my brothers tt wouldnt go into gear either and had to get a new clutch after 4000 miles. they gave him a ford escort as there were no spare cars! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> i never red line my car or ride the clutch so hope fully i will get 90k out of it but think all the gear changing in a six speed gti will kill it long before them. im predicting 35000 miles at best. bets anyone? LINCOLNSHIRESLUPOGTI
A worrying pattern may be emerging here. Ive had my Loop 6 weeks now and done just over 3000 miles. My 4th gear seems to be getting a bit notchy to engage just lately, maybe its me but im sure its wasnt this bad when new. (mines a 6 speeder btw). Man3
crap me!!!! Not you as well!!!! It'd be interesting to see if its the same problem that i had! I've got mine back with a complete new clutch n gearbox now after a lot of hassle with VW (i think it was the dealers being arseholes more than anything!) If you have any trouble getting it sorted, let me know and i'll see if i can help. How many miles had it done?
Man3
Also, if you had called VW assistance they would have arranged a courtesy car for you, or another means of getting home.
LINCOLNSHIRESLUPOGTI
Phew worry over, well for now anyway!!! My gearbox issue seems to have dissapeared just as quickly as it appeared. Whether this is good or bad i cant decide....+cant show dealer whats wrong as problem has gone away,+problem may be self cured,-problem maybe manifesting ready to bite me when im miles away from home.Hmmmm
