LONG BORING POST AHEAD!

Exhaust is on. Kind of.

Fitted it all up to find where I wanted to post-cat lambda sensor to sit, then removed it and took it to get the boss welded in. The mounts for the cat pipe are in the wrong place. I managed to get one side on, but I'm gonna have to get the other side cut off and rewelded to get it right. Because of this it's making a pretty shi*ty vibrating noise at the minute.

The manifold sits a fair bit lower than the standard exhaust, and I'd bashed that a few times, so I hope it'll be okay. The undertray also won't fit back on, I don't think, although I haven't tried it.

The manifold touches the plastic lip thing that the undertray connects to, so I had to cut around that.

Luckily we didn't need to extend any wiring for the lambda sensors, with a bit of rerouting of the first sensor it just reaches.

There was a chod of weld just inside the lambda boss in the manifold that stopped the lambda sensor from fitting, I had to grind it out with a dremel.

It seems that Ashley made a mistake and sent me a race cat instead of a fast-road cat, so I guess it's 100 cell?

The car has been running for about 20 minutes since fitting, and the manifold already looks like this:

So obviously they don't paint them with high temperature paint!

BUT

Saying all that, I had a quick little drive up the road and it actually feels a lot faster. :)

Hopefully I'll be able to get the mount changed tomorrow and get a new U-bolt for the connection between the manifold and cat-pipe, and straighten up my tailpipes and I can take it for a proper drive and see what it's like.

I was tempted to lose the centre box as well while I was at it, but not sure if it'll make it too much louder. Any experience anyone?

Could this be my last update in this thread?

My much-loved Lupo is up for sale after 6 years of being the best car in the world.

1.6 GTI 125bhp

Tornado Red

2004

64500 miles

6 Speed

12 Months MOT (til 17/08/13)

6 Months Tax (til 31/01/13)

Full Service History, done by VW for the first three years then a specialist after that.

Only ever run on Shell Optimax/V-Power petrol whilst in my ownership.

I never went over 3k revs before the engine was fully up to temperature.

No expense spared in the upkeep of the car, whatever it needed, it got.

Just had new front brake discs and fluid.

Loads of tread left on the Toyo tyres.

It has been totally reliable and never let me down.

The bad points:

The last service was done at the end of May 2011 at 60417, so it is due one now. Only done 4k since the last service due to buying a new car in January.

There are a few scratches and marks around the car, consistent with it's age.

It was a Cat D writeoff, which had been repaired before I bought it.

I really love this car, and will be genuinely sad to see it go. Only people willing to see a grown man cry should consider buying it.

After writing this, would somebody care to remind me why I'm selling it? :(

This is getting silly now.

All the random "is your car for sale" PM's I've had over the years, and now it's for sale all I get is one ridiculous offer on eBay?

It's worth £3000 easily. I love this car! :(

Ps. Sorry for misusing my build thread, but if the classifieds were like the old days I could have just bumped the thread, now the advert get deleted after a month and there's no way I could write up a new one, especially with the **** wifi I currently get.
