zippy
Okay, while I am not the most pro-English person on the planet ( style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />), I think the media needs to wise-up.Okay, Sven's not been the perfect manager, but with England having a realistic chance of winning the world cup this year, why damage it by hounding the man & demanding he leaves the post? His record is great, he's taken them to 3 championshps in a row, has had a huge part to play in bringing through some great young players - okay he might not be technically spot on, but he seems to listen to the players & try to keep everyone happy while still keeping the best interests of the team.I was one of the first people to laugh when England got humped by Denmark, but I still got annoyed by the media demanding "Sack The Swede". I still think England will go far in the world cup, and have a good chance. Dont get me wrong, I dont want them to, but the England squad is brilliant, no doubt about it.I just think the media should leave the man alone, and not influence people to call for him to be sacked. They did the same before - remember Gazza's dentists chair & kebab affairs? Detrimental to the cause, they should be backing the national team, not acting against it.Of course, Scottish papers are allowed to print these stories style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />The media is the reason Scots do not want England to win anything - we're sick of the pretentious, cocky, smarmy swagger that it portrays - Motson, Lawrensen, Hill, etc etc.If we all knew these fools would not gloat & patronise the rest of the UK, we'd probably be a lot more kind to the England cause style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />But... we're not style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
Tigz™
I agree. We have lost four real games in the time he has been manager.I'll tell you what the problem was.He was overpayed in the eyes of the FA.The UK managers, didnt earn as much as him, so they didnt like it.He wasn't English. He was over sexed.Im gutted he is gone.imo hes the best manager we have had since I can remember. SimonJ
he hasn't gone yet...after the world cup as i understand itwhich would have been the case anyway...win or lose. england have a fair crack at the world cup this year when it comes down to it, the only thing sven has done wrong is to talk about his players to a stranger. looking for a job whilst still in employment isn't illegal. he knows that he'll ebe hounded out after the world cup and if he wins it, he can turn around and say a big feck you to everyoneif sam allardyce gets anywhere near this job though, i'll never watch england again. SimonJ
the team is there now...i think we do have a realistic chancethe only positions not filled by WORLD CLASS players are goal keeper and right back paul robinson is totally dependable and i don't have a problem withluke young is inexperienced but beckham/gerrard with provide decent coverif they play a defensive midfielder formation in front of the defenders...he needs to kick ledley king in the **** and get carrick in therei don't think this will happen now and he'll stick with a 4-4-
DJ
Guys bit off topic there.Zippy was making valid points theres no need fot his to turn into another bun-fight.I agree with what Zippy has said entirely. We were just discussing this at work (mixture of Scots and English) and us Scots can't understand why the English want him to go so badly. The English guys were all for him leaving NOW even before the world cup!
SimonJ
yeah i don't want to turn it into a thread about england vs scotland( because it's too easy)but england have a cracking chance of winning the world cup. sven is in the top three managers in the world and it was a coup to get him in the first place

OK he might cost more but look at the results he is getting.I do agree that there is a chance of Enland winning the World Cup this year as well. Nicki
Getting back to the media, but off the topic of football...Why are they giving Ruth Kelly so much hassle?Ok, so a couple of people who were on the sex offenders register were allowed into schools... its still a vast improvement on a couple of years ago when there wasn't even a register... Oh, & the paper today, so what if Ruth Kelly's grandfather was an interned IRA quartermaster... she isn't!
zippy
Ok, next manager....I cant find any odds on Alan Shearer being involved, but it's worth a quid. They could bring him in with a fathehr figure, Bobby Robson style style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Nicki
I would actually.Think about it, until recently there was nothing stopping anyone working in a school - including paedophiles. They've brought in a radical new system & its bound to have its teething problems. No matter what way you look at it, its still a vast improvement on the previous situation.Don't see why they need to drag her family history into it & make it personal.
