Tomandrew10
I’ve recently bought a Gti and I’ve noticed that the clocks and heater controls light up sometimes when the lights are turned on but not everytime it usually take 3 or 4 goes of turning the lights on before the dash lights up. Sometimes it’s flashes then goes back off, also the dimming wheel doesn’t seem to do anything once they are on so I’m guessing this has something to do with it. Once they come on they stay on. Has anyone had this issue before or know what may be causing it?
mk2
Light switch. To swap it over, push the knob in and turn to on. The knob stays in, then you pull the thing straight out of the panel. Might be a loose wire or plug. Might be a black box recorder behind the switch. Fav place for insurance companies to hide it. That typically cocks up the wiring... Tomandrew10
Incase anyone else is having the same issue it turned out to be the brightness control, I’ve just soldered a wire across the terminals for the time being.
Rich
When once doing a shifty GTi conversion into a 1.4 I used the GTi loom and had this, I just twisted some wire in and forgot about it till now.
