benjbrooks
Recently had the gearbox out to replace the clutch, after putting it back together the gear selector no longer self centres back to the neutral gate. It still centres left to right along the neutral gate. Looking under the gator I can't see where a spring should be. Am I missing something? 2000 Lupo S 1.4 16v
ObjectiveAway
There is no spring for up and down neutral position, just for left and right. I think the selector shaft of gerbox should leave it there.
mk2
That'll be the little bolt in the linkage, that fits into the hole on the gearbox selector shaft. It slides on then you tighten the bolt. If the linkage isn't in the right position along the shaft, the stick will be resting closer to R/1/3/5 or 2/4. But if not that, it could be that the linkage mounting is twisted/incorrectly assembled- the bit that keeps the shifter mech steady as the engine provides torque. benjbrooks
All sorted, it was the bolt on the linkage. Was holding it together but loose enough that I could slide. Thanks for the help guys 😊
