I'm thinking of switching up my gearknob and I'm just wondering what internal thread the replacement would have to have! TYSM! (I've looked everywhere on the site for info and can't find anythin) ALSO if you have an suggestions on what mods I can do let me know! I'm a newbie!! kt_lou_gti Posted May 18, 2021 Report Share Posted May 18, 2021 (edited) Hi, the oem gear lever knobs aren't threaded, if you disconnect the gaiter where it clips onto the surround and pull it inside out you'll see a clip around the bottom of the gear knob, this needs to be snipped through to release, then simply lift the gaiter and knob off the lever. Most of the modifications I've seen are either non oem, or gear knobs from Golfs which I believe use the same fitment.
