Will Cheyney
Anyone else had their xenon headlights flicker slightly? They don’t flicker on/off but more of an effect as if someone is lightly shaking them. Any smarter people than I have an idea what might be causing it? Alternator/voltage related? mk2
Most likely the tube needs replacing. They don't last forever. Replace both at the same time or you'll end up with slightly different colour headlights which is really annoying... But it could be the ballast or moisture ingress, but unlikely. Will Cheyney
@mk2 Thank you. But what is this tube you mention? 😅
mk2
The xenon gas discharge tube, that makes the light through a plasma emission. Or the light bulb, if you like r u in Kingston? I've seen a laser blue gti in that area over the years...
Will Cheyney
@mk2 What are the replacement bulbs I need? Not had to ever replace a xenon before. I lived in London for 12 years until the beginning of this year so it may well have been me 😊

Will Cheyney
Just in case anyone else is reading this with the same issue, it turns out it was just down to an old/degraded battery. I swapped it for a new one and the flickering stopped. Who knew.
lupogtiboy
If the battery on mine goes flat, then when I get it started again, the Xenons flicker as the battery is being charged by the alternator, then as soon as it has enough charge, they stop flickering.
