GTI xenon lights flicker

Recommended Posts

Anyone else had their xenon headlights flicker slightly? They don’t flicker on/off but more of an effect as if someone is lightly shaking them. Any smarter people than I have an idea what might be causing it? Alternator/voltage related?

Most likely the tube needs replacing. They don't last forever. Replace both at the same time or you'll end up with slightly different colour headlights which is really annoying...

But it could be the ballast or moisture ingress, but unlikely.

The xenon gas discharge tube, that makes the light through a plasma emission. Or the light bulb, if you like :)

r u in Kingston? I've seen a laser blue gti in that area over the years...

If the battery on mine goes flat, then when I get it started again, the Xenons flicker as the battery is being charged by the alternator, then as soon as it has enough charge, they stop flickering.
