dirk1978
Does anyone know the right ones to get from eBay or anywhere else for the top and bottom door cards? I think they're slightly different between the 2. A few of mine have broken over the years and after the recent regular replacement so I'd like to renew them. These look about right? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-VW-Plastic-Interior-Trim-Clips-for-Door-Card-Mouldings-Panels-Boot-Linings/370854522503?_trkparms=aid%3D1110012%26algo%3DSPLICE.SOIPOST%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D228096%26meid%3Db32255b61a6543a086844f46529c0203%26pid%3D100008%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D371212021093%26itm%3D370854522503%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DPromotedSellersOtherItemsV2WithMLR&_trksid=p2047675.c100008.m2219 I tried silicone sealant on the weather seal last time but it didn't stick. The black sticky stuff seems to never go off and stays tacky so I could do with some of that but no idea what it is.
mk2
Nah, not them. From memory, they need to fit an 8mm hole, so need to be about 8.6mm diameter. Plus there are two types. The end two are different- they're different and I've never found them anywhere. @Rich might know? I know you can grab some from breakers yards, but if you want to buy new? I could do with a few spares too. Butyl rubber strip sticks to everything. Silicone doesn't work. Nor does polyurethane.
Rich
The end two are different. You need to pull up the sill trims on a mk4 golf to find them.
mk2
Which sill trims? On the anniversary edition? There aren't any I can think of?
Rich
The ones that cover the carpet edge inside. But only on five door. (Valuable information this)

LR5V
Heavy duty plastic sheet and gaffer tape for sealing up the openings On 8/6/2020 at 7:35 PM, mk2 said: Which sill trims? Anniversary Mk4 interior clips are generic Mk4 On 8/6/2020 at 3:52 PM, Rich said: You need to pull up the sill trims on a mk4 golf to find them. In my neck of the woods Mk4's in breakers are not as common as a few years ago, seems Mk5 is the new binnable VW

I don't recommend gaffa tape. It only lasts a short time once salty road spray has got onto it. Then it peels away and the door starts leaking. There used to be a gun sealant you could get which stayed tacky- smelled like hazelnuts in solvent and was beige in colour (only one colour available). Can't find it now, so have resorted to super expensive butyl tape. Shame, as trying to stick anything to polythene is near on impossible. LR5V
That butile stuff looks good - a great planned fix My Duct tape suggestion is a more a "easy to get your hands on the materials" fix that I have used on Mk3 Golfs - Secret is to reduce the number of locations any water can collect in. at the top of the opening have the sheeting on door card side, at bottom tuck the plastic inside the door...just the sides to worry about, roll them in to channel water into the door - but this could be tricky with our curvey door cards I am really starting to think the cheaper the duct tape the better, I have shelled out for branded stuff to find the stick isn't that sticky and fails after a while, currently using some brandless stuff from screwfix and its
