lexham
Hello there, Just picked up really nasty crack on my passenger side main beam. The force was not great enough to shatter the (really thick) glass, but still enough to punch out a section on the inside, now lying at the bottom of the lens assembly.Light still works on main, but I need to get this fixed before water gets into the unit.Went to the dealers nera work this afternoon and obtained a quote:Cost of sealed headlamp unti from main dealer ~£45For fitting, 1.5 hours (translates into about £130) as a front bumper off exercise.Does anyone happen to have a guide to fitting new main beam units? Thanks
madlupo
Had the same happen a while ago.The dealer replaced the light unit without removing the front bumper. They were able to bend back the bumper enough to let the light unit out. Not sure I would recommend it though. Only charged £15 Labour style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":surprise:" border="0" alt="surprise.gif" /> .But I had to re-align the bumper myself as they didn't put it back right. lexham
Thanks for the pointer - might mention that to the dealer, and book myself on a bumper re-alignment session.

Snoopy
He's talking about the high-beam and sidelight enclosure, not the HID enclosure.
lexham
Exactly. Another few inches to the left, and I would be really in a whole world of HID enclosure pain.
