Vw lupo fan not working

My fan won’t start when the engine is running. The warning light comes on and it just overheats and it’s not the thermostat because I’ve replaced it and it isn’t the fuse.  Any idea what else it could be and how I would be able to fix it?

thermo switch in radiator  - if you need to use the car you are best to have the fan running all the time. You can add a jumper wire in the terminals to keep the fan running, cant say what terminals to use, last time I had to do this was decades ago on an Audi Coupe - this will also test if the fan controller is working
