Dizzy_PD
Hi all Anyone on here refurbish lupo gearboxes? Mines started to jump out of 2nd occasionally, it's not that often but I need the car to be as reliable as possible. Current gearbox code is FFV (1.7 SDI) Thanks Edited February 6, 2019 by Dizzy_PD
mk2
I know a chap here in Reading who charges £50. You need to supply it drained and with the £100 rebuild kit. There's also someone in Cardiff area I think. @Rich might know someone closer to you...

mk2
That's exactly what I did with my black SDI. When stripped there was nothing wrong with it except the reverse gear had been slightly abused. Cleaned magnet. All like new again. i even flushed it before refilling with decent oil! Basically guaranteed to last the lifetime of the car now!!

LR5V
Gas’n gears on Facebook - based in Cornelli near Cardiff - Hotgolf is a legend in the vw community, he is not as cheap as Mk2’s guy, but definitely knows his stuff, did my rebuild and LSD. Dizzy_PD
Thanks guys, sorry I don't get notifications of replies, didn't realise you all commented I'm going to change the oil with genuine VW stuff and see if it improves.. tbh it maybe because my pedal box needs doing, might not be pushing the clutch enough. thanks
mk2
Flush first with some cheapo stuff...

mk2
Stationary for a couple of mins, with the front wheels off the ground in gear to clean the diff too. Then dump the contents while still spinning, keeping all the bits in suspension (in oil). Gets all the metal bits out. See definitive gearbox thread...
