Rich
Engine light shouldn't make a difference when starting the car.
mk2
There is a fault which is causing the problem. The light is there to let you know it is serious enough, so if you don't get it checked you might get stranded somewhere.
ibrarali@hotmail.com
I am talking about green light . When you press brake pedal

RAB
When you start the car with the lever in S, you need your foot on the brake as this opens the clutch. If putting your foot on the brake doesn't change the status of the green light, you have a faulty brake switch. This will be confirmed by being able to start the car in N. mk2
It should start in N, irrespective of brake pedal I'd've thought. Unless there's a fault with the gearshift selector. I know what you mean now, now that @RAB has elaborated.... just thought, if you have to wait an hour, it could be accumulator pressure related. Is there a pressure sensor on the 3L system? RAB
Nothing to do with the accumulator. The green light goes out when the foot brake is pressed. Or in his case, should. RAB
mk2
In that case RAB is correct
