I know but he's possibly putting a front subframe in the back with an engine.

It's for the front.  As I'm using a Mk3 Golf front subrame for the rear I have to get Golf front coilovers fro the rear of the Lupo.

Expensive? that's per strut mind. Is this for the rear or all round? Is this going to be fast road or built for competition?

Yes they are quite expensive but I have a direct account with Bilstein (I own a motor factors in S.Wales)so I get the quite a lot cheaper.

golf front coilovers actually fit the front of a lupo as well.

theoretically you could fit the turret from the front of a loop to the back for this application.

That's worth knowing, what golf bits though, mk1, 2, 3,...?

I was thinking of cutting the turrets from front of golf & welding them into the rear but also veering towards fabricating my own. Didn't know Golf fitted to Lupo front turrets though, thanks.??
