hi, so today i lost my alternator belt, i bought a new one and after a bit of fiddling got it all fitted (looked fine, in line etc). went to start it and the engine was just juddering and then slightly smokey? any ideas? my initial thought was tension but the tensioner is spring loaded so surely it cant over tighten itself?

those two things shouldn't be related

well when i go to start it, it just judders like i said, if i persist it starts to smell but there was no other problem before... just wondered if i had perhaps not lined the belt up correctly but like i said it looks fine

managed to get a propper look just (was pissing down earlier) seems like the little arm over the tensioner - dont know what its called - has at some point sheered so the tensioner wasnt at all working propperly, will get that replaced and see how she goes! merry christmas to me lol! plus side: new aluline turbines have been dispatched
