Sarkie83
Has anyone got a decent image/link of where exactly it is? Tonight the Arosa has decided it doesn't want to start anymore, and seems to be throwing code P0321 Thanks Edited October 18, 2016 by Sarkie83
wehey
Just remove the upper cam belt cover and you will see it. Simple job to do. Takes about 15mins It connects to the loom at the front of the engine near the dipstick Edited October 18, 2016 by wehey
Sarkie83
Thanks - I didn't realise at first there was a little rubber grommet which you could push out the way to pull the cable through! Unfortunately it didn't fix the non starting...
jon_273
Yeah I wondered how on earth I was going to change the sensor until I found that grommet. At least VW made it easy to change!
jon_273
Unfortunately a quick google would seem to suggest P0321 is the Engne Speed Sensor (G28), which is the other sensor. If this fails it is not possible to start the engine (according to the SSP).
Sarkie83
Where does the other end of the engine speed sensor attach? It feels like it goes down underneith the engine, under the oil filter, but couldn't feel the end. It's too cold and dark right now to be trying to climb around underneath! Not sure, never had to do anything with it on mine. The SSP just says it's on the block somewhere.
Sarkie83
Thank for the link, got the undertray off today and had a look - it does attach down under the oil filter to the block. Can't get access, and had enough now. Gonna be a garage job. btw - where did the above attachment come from?
jon_273
It's from the VW Self Study Program. If you google VW SSP you can find them floating aroung the internet. They are internal VW documents which explain how things work.
