Gti clutch bites high

Recommended Posts

The clutch on the GTi is hydraulic, so no adjustment.

Sounds like the clutch is worn.

The bite point on the pedal will move with wear (barring other problems like pedal box, bent clutch arms, etc) so a high clutch pedal bite point is a good indicator of a worn clutch.

Floor it in 4th, 5th and 6th on a long straight incline and if it doesnt slip then you have plenty more miles before worrying about replacing it, if it slips then you dont. The wear will accelerate as it slips, so once it is slipping in high gears on flat roads then you defo need a clutch.
