toddwatts7
Hi, This started when I was driving home the other day, the horn just started beeping randomly when the wheel was turning, at first I thought I must have accidentally hit the horn but it got worse and worse as I continued to drive. Firstly it was just when I turned the wheel every now and then, I took the air bag out of the center of the steering wheel to check the connections and the they seemed fine, nothing was obviously out of place or touching. When I put it back on the horn was beeping constantly which was weird. I took the horn off and checked the plug with my multi meter, was getting 0v stationary wheel and at 11-12v when pressing the horn, but when I moved the wheel would get anywhere from 3-10v which I thought was weird. The horn is now off the car to temporary solve the problem but I'm not sure if I have a short somewhere. Any of you guys had a similar problem? Any help would be appreciated Cheers
mattarosa
People have had this problem before, it could be a trapped cable by the sounds of things. I can't remember the solution I'm afraid but there is one so have faith, just have a scout around here
Skezza
Get your steering column off.
carrera-gt
The horn is powered from + 12v ignition feed, the casette connector on the back of the steering wheel has a slip ring on it that feeds the 12v into the horn push via a cable when the horn push grounds through the steering columb the horn sounds . You have an un-inteded ground somwhere in that circuit All you can do is take the ground side off the horns and trace it through until you find the problem
