wehey
I am just gathering all the bits I need to perform a diesel purge.I have seen a few YouTube vids and they all use lengths of plastic tubing to extend the fuel lines. Is there any reason why I can just disconnect the 2 injector fuel pipes from the VAG fuel filter, then fit my own temp fuel filter into the end of one of the pipes and pop both of the ends into the purge container? wehey
So I got the purge done today and it worked a treat.Disconnected the supply and return pipes from the filter then joint them both together with a short length of tubing. Then inserted the inline filter into the end of the fuel supply pipe and put both fuel lines into an old coffee jar and filled with the purge liquid.Half hour later I'm done
Skezza
It's good stuff. I highly recommend diesel purge to anyone with a diesel car. I know people talk about placebo effect, but really, this is the real deal. It'll keep your injectors going for longer as well.

I can see why you need the inline fuel filter now

wehey
I varied the revs throughout the process. Some at idle, some @ 2k, some @ 3k etc

Dblock
I smashed it at all revs my diesel purge stayed clear? Maybe as I use 2 stroke too?

Dblock
I redlined mine hardSame here but the diesel purge remained clear. Although when I did the water decarb there was some sooty deposits from the exhaust.

Why not replace the whole filter for a new one? Surely it has a cotton filter in it of sorts?
Dblock
I don't understand what your talking about.
TheFish
I don't understand what your talking about.Mate, just saying if you want to clean up your engine etc, that terra cleaning also is worth doing...brings your car back to virtually new after being decarbonised. In terms of the purge, I wasn't aware of people draining them off, however I do not about that as I worked with aviation filters that needed draining off....I would have thought that just swapping the filter for new was just easier? No probs though....
Skezza
Hmm. I think the terra clean would be overkill. Maybe on a high performance car, but on a Lupo, water injection will completely decarb your engine very quickly.

Skezza
I could be wrong but terraclean would probably be more relevant on a tdi than a petrol sports car.Not sure I agree with that. While I appreciate you're more likely to suffer coking and what not on your diesel, you still get build ups of carbon in a petrol engine. My point wasn't regarding the actual engine type though, rather money to necessity to value ratio. Like most cars, Lupo's are depreciating in value. I really don't get spending money on something like terraclean for your average 2001 TDI. However, on a high performance Escort Cossie with some value or something, I could see why you might want to spend money.
