Yeah great motor. But did you know that the insurance value of any gti is now only £1400. So if this beaut exhibit got written off, that's all you get! Mad. I'd get some independant valuations on it and get a real agreed insurance value from the insurers. I'd guess this thing would sell for maybe £6k or more...

Nah I didn't realise that, kinda sucks! My insurance is due Jan and I was actually thinking of looking at a more specialist place to insure it anyway. Will have to have a chat with them when it comes to it!

Small update, got myself a custom steering wheel! Flat bottom like the newer VW ones but with the standard lupo centre so theres no issues with airbag/horn! Love itIMG_20181117_125948.thumb.jpg.926b562401553f622b6857e6c1cd07ab.jpg

I was putting my original alloys back on today as I'm intending to sell the JR18s,  so while I was there, I thought I'd share a peek at what's to come. I've also got some G60 carriers on the way, so brakes will be getting an upgrade!

Ownership goals for mine right here! So clean!

G60's is one of the best mods you can do to a GTI, well worth it.

Now that's where it should have started wheel-wise

Well, to be fair I have been after them a good couple of years, just so hard to get hold of! Finally managed to get a set from Germany, Can't wait to get them sorted and on the car!

Appreciate that, thanks! Do try to keep it as clean as possible. Hard work this time of year! 🙄

Just got the carriers today, Hopefully going to get them on in the next few weeks

Ive got those wheels to go on 😈 had mine refinished in shadow chrome waiting for the nice weather to get them on.

Was thinking shadow chrome for mine, but I think I want them a bit lighter than that. Probably just going to get something thats a close match to the original finish!

Managed to get myself an Arosa dash for free, so I took the centre stereo surround out and painted the surrounds on the vents to match the car, finally got around to swapping it over today! Always preferred the round vents, think they suit the style of the Lupo a lot more than the boring stock ones! I have two spare side vents aswell, was thinking of doing them gloss black to match the top of the binnacle? I think doing them blue aswell would look too much

Upgraded my brakes to g60s today, went for the Brembo performance discs in the end, also replaced the ARB bushes and the droplink bushes with OEM. Getting the metal bracket to fit on to line back up for the bolt on the ARB bushes was an absolute nightmare! Took forever!

Couple of pics, didn't have time to clean the arches or paint the calipers, will be done once better weather arrives!

Thanks to @yeha for the carriers!

Agreed. And has been proven in field and lab tests. Look good though.

Probably not for most everyday road cars.

Till they fill with dust, corrode and create lumps in braking.

Been there, done this

I used to run ATE Power discs on one of my Audi Coupe GT's:

They were really good, especially in the wet where the groove helped water escape between pad and disc - they never filled up with crud, probable because the constant heat cycles, grove was also a wear indicator. Cant remember who it was, big into racing  Seat's & remapping, they used to sell aftermarket discs for the LCR Brembo brakes made up with the same star groove. Only issue I had is the look a bit cutesy like Ronal teddy's, probably compliment each other:

Now what car have I seen them on, as stock from factory...? Not lupo. Can't remember... American maybe?

Friction surfaces- the smoother the better, which is different to what common sense says. Something to do with the more molecules making contact and all that. Vent holes, slots, spirals etc all reduce friction as the contact area reduces. Water has minimal effect after a split second of contact at speed.

Almost ready to go on, just need sealing with some Gtechniq C5 and waiting on BBS spigots to arrive...Anyone any advice on where I can get replacement centre caps that aren't stupid prices? Mine have whiteworm on them and just look tatty. BBS or VW ones, don't mind which really.

Jaguar?

Cheapest place for spanners (12 point) so who knows if they do caps which fit?

I have all the metal bits, its just the logo part of the cap that looks crap. Handy about the spanner though, do need one of those!
