  1. Anyone ever straight piped an SDI? I've heard the backbox can be restrictive on it, would removing it free up some more mpg? My main concern is noise, my downpipe has rusted away and separated, its extremely loud. If I put a straight through from manifold all the way to the rear would it still be extremely loud because it's NA? My 1.9tdi isn't that loud straight piped, but that's probably because it's turbo'd. i know someone will have done it.. cheers
  2. Hello, I Recently bought a sat nav from Garmin and i want to set up the fuel economy part of it, but i have been searching the the internet for the City Fuel Economy and the Mwy Fuel Economy and cant see it anywhere! Well not for the 1.0 litre anyway! Does anyone have the data or a link to a website that could help me out? Many thanks!
  3. Right I was just wondering what the other 1.0L Arosa's manage to get from their fuel. Half a tank last me 120 miles MAX! Now I don't know if this is normal or if my fuel efficiency is just ****?! Also had a few times where the petrol light has stayed on, regardless of the fact the tank was full! Help me y'all thanks
  4. Hey everyone Brand new member so forgive me any newbie mistakes!! I've had my littlw 1.0 Lupo E from back in 2000 and I was just going to drive her and drive er, eventually into the ground, with minium upkeep (and enjoyment). But something recently made me change my mind. No idea what it was, but I've made a start by using aluminium body filler to fill up a couple of cracks that were previously covered by masking tape. They've now been sanded flush, sprayed and lacquered and the car looks ten times better already. My burning question is...LPG!!! Liquid Petroleum Gas conversions for our beloved Lupos??????????? I've only been considering this the last few days and am amazed by the info and number of specialists already out there. Had a quick check on costs and LPG Wales do it for £620. Now i'm not sure if there's a huge difference in that or going somewhere else and paying £900 - i'll have to do more research. Also waiting for a few other companies to get back to me with quotes. As expected there are many 'DIY Kits' on Ebay. There's NO chance i'd be able to do something like that but does anyone have any other thoughts? Love to hear all comments - for and against LPG with reasons why. Thanks so much for your time guys. Cheers, Mark

    Poor MPG

Hi, is anyone else struggling with poor mpg. I have a s reg 1.4s Arosa and can only manage 250 miles out of a tank. Thats 33 mpg can this be correct. I know the car is old but Ive just got rid of a MGTF, this has more than twice the power and i got more MPG out of that. Could there be an issue with the engine?? Stu
  6. Seems to be all going wrong lately: Had the MOT a few weeks ago and it scraped through on emissions. Checked the oil last week, and since September it had used absolutely all of it! Decided to look in the air filter for "mayo" and there was some. Just a bit confused, as there's no mayo on the oil filler cap, in the air filter it was only on the right hand side, and obviously there was a bit of it in the breather pipe on the air-box. Looked around what other people have done and they seem to be conflicting, don't think it's the HG because it drives fine. http://fav.me/d4j2u7v http://fav.me/d4j2uek http://fav.me/d4j2ud6
  7. Hello I haven't posted for a little while but I'm still here and driving my SDi And today I managed to go further on a tank of diesel than I've previously managed. Until now I'd travelled 670.9 miles, but today I got to 703.2 miles before the fuel light came on. I re-filled her a few miles later (having covered 708.8 miles between fuel stops) and put in 38.34 litres so that's the tank and the expansion tank filled to the brim again. I calculated the fuel economy and was amazed to see that it was 84.02mpg Not sure I can beat that record, although achieving 85mpg is my next target...
